What We DoWhat We Do
Immigrant Welcome Center Connect
We’re excited to announce the implementation of a new immigrant and refugee focused resource database for community organizations and community members. Based on the Aunt Bertha platform, the new database, called Immigrant Welcome Center Connect, will be rolled out starting December 16th and through the first quarter of January 2021. Unique aspects of the database include searchable resources by language preference and documentation requirements, two critical points for immigrants and refugees in Indianapolis.
"My wife and I recently made contact with the Immigrant Welcome Center of Indianapolis and following a very considerate conversation were able to effectively and efficiently be directed to the appropriate volunteer. We met with that person in a very short time and established a great professional relationship. The staff at the IWC offer and provide more than just a welcome to the city. They provide accurate information and helpful, sincere advice and guidance for the needs of the clients they serve. They offer true Hoosier hospitality to all who need the services provided. With their help, we were able to connect with a fluent Mandarin/English speaking volunteer who will be able to help us in the future. We sincerely appreciate the services we have received."
"About 17 years ago I got on a plane from Colombia and moved to Indianapolis. Before learning English, graduating from college, and landing a job at the Marion County Health Department I worked at a warehouse where I met many other Latino immigrants.
They told me their stories, their journey, and what they went through and the struggle to get to the United States. I didn’t have to go through that to get here and I realized how blessed I was, That's when I decided I needed to give back and help my community."
